Things are really flying around here. New artists, tours, albums, showcases… We have several new artists on the roster, and many more in the wings who are not yet on the site.  We are organizing tours for several artists from Europe who you don’t see on our site, and here is the list.

The Valkyrien Allstars – from Norway – will tour US and Canada in September ’08. Take a second and have a look at their myspace site and youtube video. Valkyrien Allstars is not a normal hardangerfiddle group. With roots in Norwegian traditional music, VA has developed a totally new, smooth sound, inspired from many different musical genres. The members of VA is: Tuva Syvertsen, Ola Hilmen, and Erik Sollid. Soulful and strong vocals mixed with funky fiddles, collective improvisation, and a driving force has become VA´s trademark. www.myspace.com/valkyrienallstars; www.valkyrienallstars.com

Jayme Stone – from US/Canada – is an outstanding banjo player, and has a new project with Malian artist Mansa Sissoko. A masterful banjoist, composer, educator and true musicians' musician. Steeped in the repertoire, technique and lore of old-time and bluegrass music, his playing draws on a much wider palette of sound, emotion and influence. He has studied with banjo elders Béla Fleck, Tony Trischka and Bill Evans as well as such luminaries as Bill Frisell and Dave Douglas.

Lepisto & Lehti – from Finland – are touring Canada, and possibly US in mid August ’08. Markko Lepisto is in the famed Finnish band Varttina, and Pekka Lehti was also in the band. Accordion and double bass. Fantastic. You can hear them at www.aitorecords.com

Haugaard and Hoirup – from Denmark – are looking to tour in February and March ’08 (coming right up!) and again in mid-August. These two sensational players are Harald Haugaad on fiddle and Morten Alfred Hoirup on guitar, and have been wowing audiences worldwide for years.
